FDA OKs Hologic breast imaging workstation

Hologic Inc. has received marketing clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its SecurViewDX breast imaging workstation.

The SecurViewDX is a dedicated, multi-modality workstation for display and interpretation of any screening or diagnostic digital mammogram, as well as other images, such as MRI, CT, PET and ultrasound.

Hologic said the workstation also will support digital computer aided detection (CAD) programs.

The SecurViewDX joins Hologic's family of imaging products focused on the early detection of breast cancer and osteoporosis, including the Lorad Selenia full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system, screen-film mammography systems, stereotactic breast biopsy equipment, and an array of bone densitometry products.
