Fujifilm Donates Medical Equipment to Norman Regional Health Foundation Providing Aid for Tornado Relief and Restoration Efforts

As Moore and other communities in Oklahoma continue to struggle in the aftermath of the devastating storms this past May, FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. and FUJIFILM SonoSite, Inc. are helping families receive medical attention through donated equipment and supplies.  Both companies contributed medical imaging equipment at a total market value of $198,500 USD to Norman Regional Health Foundation, which will assist Norman Regional Health System (NRHS) with the overflow of patients resulting from the devastation at nearby Moore Medical Center.

“Fujifilm delivered critical medical equipment by working with local NRHS representatives to understand their specific needs,” said John Friedl, director of Corporate Communications, FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. “It is our hope that our donation will contribute to the recovery and rebuilding efforts in the region.”

The in-kind donation to Norman Regional Health Foundation included Fujifilm’s latest digital x-ray detector system FDR D-EVO™ which includes Fujifilm’s patented ISS technology designed to improve dose efficiency and enhance image detail, along with technology upgrades to the health facility’s existing Computed Radiography systems, professional services training and warranty on the full system for their Diagnostic Imaging Department. The donation provided by Fujifilm Medical Systems will be used to care for patients that need x-rays, which is one of the most common diagnostic treatments amisitered to ER patients.

“The massive storms in Moore, OK have affected the lives of so many people. Our philosophy toward community relations mirrors the company's focus in helping people everywhere to live healthy lives,” said Brian Noyes, vice president of Marketing, FUJIFILM SonoSite, Inc. “We scaled up our interventions to meet the needs of Norman Regional Health System and we are happy to donate these necessities.”

Fujifilm SonoSite donated the M-Turbo® ultrasound system, including accessory equipment. The M-Turbo is Fujifilm’s most versatile system for abdominal, nerve, vascular, cardiac, venous access, pelvic and superficial imaging. The portable system displays high resolution and is designed to be used quickly and easily to address medical conditions.

“We are so grateful to Fujifilm for their generous donation. We are delighted to accept these gifts on behalf of the Norman Regional Health System,” said Anne Clouse, Executive Director of the Norman Regional Health Foundation. “On May 20, 2013, our beloved Moore Medical Center took a direct hit from an F5 tornado. Thankfully, our staff, patients and the community members sheltering there all survived. Our hospital was a complete loss, and a result our remaining two hospitals have experienced and overflow of patients. Fujifilm’s donation has helped us meet the needs of these patients. We are so thankful for their giving spirit.”
