GE realigns IT, ultrasound businesses

Upon the departure of Dow Wilson, former CEO of GE Healthcare's Information Technologies business, the company has realigned its IT and Ultrasound businesses.

The original IT group is being split so one portion now fits within Ultrasound and the other in more traditional IT, GE said. The new Global Ultrasound and Clinical Device business, led by the division's President and CEO Omar Ishrak, will include patient monitoring, CARE (carestations, anesthesia, respiratory and perinatal), and non-invasive cardiology devices.

Vishal Wanchoo, vice president, Radiology Systems, will lead GE's IT business, which will include the PACS and Clinical Information Systems businesses.

The internal reorganization will enable GE to better assist customers and enhance its capacity to execute device/IT convergence strategy, the company said.
