Guardian shows new FlowPoint, R&D mammo CAD system

Guardian Technologies at last week's Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) Annual Meeting in Orlando, Fla., gave attendees a preview of the latest version of its FlowPoint system v.6.1 which will now include a new feature which provides international language support for UK English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. A few additional languages will be added soon. This new development reinforces Guardian's goal which is to be the "default international provider for image and information systems," said John Paganini, senior director, product management healthcare systems.
   
Guardian also provided details regarding a new CAD (computer aided detection) system for mammography that is currently in R&D. The system, which they hope to make available within a year, will make use of the company's PinPoint aviation security technology which is currently used for bomb detection and other purposes, has promising applications in the area of in mammography, Paganini said.
   
Additionally, Guardian also showed a new PET/CT fusion system for orthopedic imaging at SCAR.
