iCAD received FDA OK on iQ CAD system
The FDA has cleared iCAD Inc.'s new iCAD iQ computer-aided detection (CAD) system for marketing.
The iQ system is designed specifically for women's health centers and breast clinics that perform less than 20 mammography procedures per day. Shipments of iQ are set for the fourth quarter.
The FDA approval also permits use of iCAD's new Fulcrum digitizer in connection with its MammoReader CAD products. The company said the OK will permit iCAD to expand its product offerings in the area of networked CAD, in which satellite mammography screening and film scanning points are networked and connected in a so-called hub and spoke configuration using the iCAD MammoReader's central CAD database.
