IDC report: EMC leads in worldwide external disk storage systems revenue in 3Q

A new report from IDC says that EMC Corp. extended its lead in worldwide revenue for external disk storage systems in the third quarter.

IDC also reported EMC widened its revenue share lead in worldwide networked storage revenue, which includes Fibre Channel SANs, iSCSI SANs and network-attached storage (NAS), gaining more share than any of the next six largest suppliers, compared to the year-ago quarter. The market research firm also reported EMC led in external RAID disk storage systems revenue in Western Europe for the second consecutive quarter and recorded the highest year-over-year revenue growth among the five largest suppliers in Asia Pacific.
