IHE calls for participants in its Connectathon, other programs
The annual IHE North America Connectathon will be held Jan. 16-20, 2006 in Oak Brook, Ill. The Connectathon is the centerpiece of the IHE testing process. Companies that choose to participate in this weeklong interoperability testing event will be evaluated on the implementation of IHE Actors and Integration Profiles defined in the IHE Technical Frameworks. This year's evaluation will include systems testing in the following IHE domains: Cardiology, IT Infrastructure, Laboratory, Patient Care Coordination, Radiation Oncology, and Radiology.
The organization is inviting all qualified vendors of healthcare information systems to participate. Application information is available at http://www.ihe.net/Connectathon/index.cfm. Completed applications are due Sept. 15, 2005.
The Connectathon is also a required step in preparations for two of the IHE Demonstrations 2006 events in North America, the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS 2006 (Feb. 12-16, San Diego, Calif.) and the IHE Cardiology Demonstration at ACC 2006 (March 11-14, Atlanta, Ga.). Successful completion of Connectathon testing is a prerequisite for participation in each of these events. More information and applications are available at the following locations:
Additionally, the IHE Patient Care Coordination (PCC) Technical Committee has published a draft of the PCC Technical Framework for public review. It describes the Cross Enterprise Sharing of Medical Summaries Integration Profile (XDS-MS), including the Medical Summary Content (MS) specification. The framework is designed to enable physicians and provider organizations to share clinical documents with key summary information for transfer of care in an interoperable RHIO environment.
To review the draft, go to http://www.ihe.net/Technical_Framework/index.cfm. Public comment is invited through August 22, 2005..
Lastly, the deadline for applications to participate in a demonstration of the updated Portable Data for Imaging (PDI) Integration Profile at RSNA 2005 has been extended to August 2, 2005. Applications are available at http://www.ihe.net/Events/pdi_demo_2005.cfm
