InfraReDx taps Southard as president, CEO

InfraReDx has appointed Donald Southard as its new president and CEO to replace former CEO and the company’s co-founder, James E. Muller, MD.

The move also appoints Southard to InfraReDx’s board of directors, while Muller will continue his role as chief medical officer and now be chairman of the company’s board.

Most recently, Southard held the role of CEO at Zonare Medical Systems. Previously, Southard worked as president of Datascope, was CEO of Serviscope and served as vice president of sales and marketing at Toshiba America Medical Systems.

Southard will play a role in the launch of the Burlington, Mass.-based InfraReDx’s LipiScan IVUS [intravascular ultrasound] coronary imaging system that combines near-infrared spectroscopy and IVUS technologies to characterize intracoronary lipid core plaques.
