Iowa Heart Center first to deploy Toshiba Artida ultrasound system
Toshiba America Medical Systems has delivered its first Aplio Artida ultrasound system to the Iowa Heart Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
According to Richard Marcus, MD, director of cardiovascular ultrasound laboratory, Iowa Heart Center, the hospital selected the Aplio Artida for the system’s 4D imaging capability and 3D wall motion tracking.
Artida's real-time, multi-planar reformatting capabilities allow physicians to quantify global and regional left ventricular (LV) function, including volumetric LV ejection fraction, according to the Tustin, Calif.-based Toshiba.
The company said its Artida ultrasound system can track and display myocardial motion and 3D volumes in 3D images. Wall motion tracking features in 2D/3D allow the user to obtain angle-independent, quantitative and regional information about myocardial contraction. Toshiba said its Artida includes multiple processors that run synchronously.
