JACR appoints first resident to editorial board
Thomas M. Carr, MD, has been appointed to the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR) editorial board as the first ACR resident and fellow section (RFS) representative.
Carr will be “responsible for working directly with me to raise awareness of the journal among residents and fellows,” said Bruce Hillman, MD, FACR, editor in chief of JACR.
As the RFS representative, Carr will recruit article submissions from residents and fellows and work to pilot electronic initiatives for JACR. He will also work with Hillman to incorporate resident and fellow views and interests into the journal, and give trainees a voice in the college, according to the ACR.
Carr will serve a two-year term as RFS representative.
Carr is a diagnostic radiology resident at the University of Virginia (UVA) Health Systems in Charlottesville, Va. He completed an internship in internal medicine at UVA after earning his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in 2004, according to the ACR. He will continue at UVA for three more years while he completes his residency and then fellowships in both interventional radiology and breast imaging.
