MMT, ScanSoft integrate technologies

Electronic medical record (EMR) developer Mountain Medical Technologies Inc. (MMT) will implement ScanSoft Inc.'s Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical to enable speech recognition within its CYRAMED EMR system.

The new integration will enable MMT's customers to dictate directly into the CYRAMED system, eliminating the need for transcription services and lowering administrative costs and turnaround time for critical medical records. Physicians and other medical professionals can use the automated system to create patient notes, fax or e-mail referral letters, and perform other traditionally transcription-dependent tasks.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical 8 has built-in understanding for more than 300,000 words, and includes 14 pre-made specialty vocabularies, including general medicine, pathology, radiology, cardiology and surgery disciplines. Healthcare organizations also can add their own words to the system to create customized vocabularies.
