New California cardiovascular center to deploy Toshiba imaging suite

Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System has created the Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center to provide cardiac disease treatment with a suite of imaging equipment from Toshiba America Medical Systems.

The Salinas, Calif.-based health system will use the Toshiba Aquilion One CT system and the Vantage Atlas MR system to deliver high quality patient care. Also, Toshiba said its Aplio Artida ultrasound system is being used by Salinas Valley’s director at his professional practice to further evaluate cardiac patients.

The Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center at its outpatient facility in Monterey County, Calif., is led being led by Timothy Albert, MD, assistant consulting professor of medicine at Duke University in Durham, N.C.

The Tustin, Calif.-based Toshiba said its Aquilion One utilizes 320 high-resolution detector rows (0.5 mm in width) to image the heart in a single gantry rotation. The result produces a 4D clinical video showing up to 16 cm of anatomical coverage to capture the entire heart and show its movement such as blood flow.
