NFL Combine to use Carestream wireless x-ray detector

The National Football league (NFL) has tapped Carestream, using its DRX-1 digital radiography detector as part of a comprehensive physical for pro-football hopefuls at the 2012 NFL Combine.

The annual scouting combine is a week-long event where more than 300 selected college football players perform physical and mental tests for evaluation by NFL coaches, general managers and scouts in preparation for drafting new players. Players also will undergo a physical including x-ray imaging exams conducted at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

The DRX-1 wireless detector allows image access in less than five seconds, which will streamline the process of imaging hundreds of athletes, according to Rochester, N.Y.-based Carestream.
