October is Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month

To increase public awareness of medical ultrasound, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) is sponsoring Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month in October.

The AIUM is encouraging members of the medical community to participate in the event by familiarizing and educating patients about medical ultrasound through specially planned activities and educational materials.

To raise knowledge on the subject, the campaign focuses specifically on acquainting patients with some of the terminology related to medical ultrasound, such as echocardiography, sonographer, sonologist, Doppler, and peripheral arterial disease.

For additional information on Medical Ultrasound Awareness month and a free information kit, visit the organization's Web site at www.aium.org.
