Pa. hospital taps GE for hybrid OR technology

St. Luke’s University Hospital has ordered GE Healthcare’s Discovery IGS 730, a laser-guided system that received FDA clearance in February.  

The Discovery IGS 730 uses digital flat-panel detector technology. The imaging device is on a laser-guided mobile gantry that moves along user defined pathways. Clinicians can move the system to the table for imaging varied anatomies, and then move it aside and park it, allowing room to position physicians, nurses, technologists, anesthesiologists and other personnel for surgery.

St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa., plans to install the interventional system in 2012.
