Philips, RaySearch strengthen relationship for IMRT

Philips Medical Systems and RaySearch Laboratories, of Stockholm, are entering a new stage in their co-development relationship to create the next generation of systems for inverse treatment planning in intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).

The technology will include features designed for better management of treatment by leveraging Philips imaging, simulation, information management and treatment management capabilities.

Philips and RaySearch introduced their first product, the P3IMRT, in 2001. The product incorporates RaySearch's Orbit module, a general software framework for solving optimization problems in radiation therapy, says Philips.
