Pro fighter blames radiologist for keeping him out of the ring
Rashad Evans is a former light-heavyweight champion in mixed martial arts (MMA) competition—and he is not happy with his radiologist.
The radiologist read Evans’s MRI brain images and saw something troubling. As a result, Evans was kept from competing in a big match at Madison Square Garden as well as a re-booked fight in Canada.
“I’m going to fight. What happened in New York was a misunderstanding with the brain MRI thing,” Evans told a broadcaster, as reported on the online outlet MMA Mania. “The radiologist read the same radiology exam and then gave two different assessments of it.”
“Upon further review, after having everything tested and looked at, it was pretty clear what happened, and it was just a radiologist not doing his due diligence,” Evans added. “At the end of the day it cost me. It is what it is, and I was able to put it behind me and move forward.”
