QuadraMed launches identity management tool for hospitals, HIEs

QuadraMed has released its Smart Identity Exchange (Smart I/X), an identity management tool to help hospitals and health information exchanges (HIEs) to identify, reconcile and manage patient records.

Smart I/X is both an enterprise master person index (MPI) and a record locator/reconciliation solution, designed for organizations that require a means of identifying patients, as well as establishing and maintaining a composite medical record across multiple data sources, according to the Reston, Va.-based company.

QuadraMed said its tool helps organizations comply with HIPAA and uses a probabilistic algorithm to analyze all records stored in an organization’s MPI systems, cross-references and reconciles them, then assigns each patient an enterprise identifier.

With Smart I/X, the company said an integrated delivery network can create a longitudinal view of clinical and financial data for sharing patient records, tracking patient populations, monitoring quality of care indicators, producing accurate billing statements and connecting to HIEs.
