R2 Technology, University of Chicago partner on mammo CAD library
Computer-aided detection (CAD) technology firm R2 Technology Inc. and the University of Chicago Medical Center have signed an exclusive license agreement to develop a mammography CAD workstation reference library.
The investigational CAD reference library contains a database of both malignant and benign lesions related to breast cancer, which radiologists could access for clinical comparison and relevancy.
R2, which developed and markets the ImageChecker CAD system for mammography, is investigating all aspects of mammography -- from image processing the display and interpretation of the CAD marks to image storage and recall through PACS and DICOM connectivity.
R2 President and CEO Michael Klein said the new pact with the University of Chicago is an "extension of our ongoing collaboration and the reference library represents the next generation of CAD tools."
He added that the collaboration "intends to add thousands of lesions to the current database to extend its clinical relevance even further."
