RSNA: Siemens focuses on MRI productivity

At the 2009 RSNA conference this week in Chicago, Siemens Healthcare showcased a redefining of MRI productivity by multiplying the power of its Tim (Total imaging matrix) technology with its new Day optimizing throughput (Dot) engine.

Both technologies are introduced in the new Magnetom Aera 1.5T and the new Magnetom Skyra 3T scanners.

The combination of Tim 4G and Dot delivers patient-centered care and improved productivity across the entire MRI workflow. Tim 4G is now available with up to 204 coil elements and up to 128 receiver channels.

Dot, the imaging world’s first MRI “throughput engine,” offers patient personalization, user guidance, and exam automation to help optimize every part of the practice. Dot offers productivity gains up to 30 percent, and it helps tech scan acquire consistent images, Siemens said.

Dot for Magnetom Aera and Magnetom Skyra require 510(k) review, and are not commercially available in the U.S.
