ScImage takes on multiphase digital imaging initiative at Alton Memorial

ScImage will roll out its PICOMEnterprise, an enterprise-wide image management system, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Ill., to give caregivers a single point of access for patients' studies generated in both the medical imaging and cardiology departments.

According to ScImage, the hospital intends to implement the project in multiple phases, beginning with cardiac catheterization imaging, echocardiography, reporting and EKG management for cardiology services.

Phase two, which will begin during the next several months, will connect all modalities in the hospital's medical imaging department and integrate with the existing radiology information system, providing conflict resolution, DICOM modality worklist and web image and information distribution and archiving.

Phase three of the project will move the facility to a completely filmless/paperless digital operation and provide electronic access to referring physicians.
