Siemens, Draeger reveal co-operative effort

Siemens Medical Solutions and Draeger Medical featured Invision ChartAssist, a jointly developed critical care system, at HIMSS 2004.

Invision ChartAssist combines the critical care charting capabilities of Draeger Medical's ChartAssist with Siemens Invision health information system (HIS). By integrating clinical results, reports and critical care information, the system automatically collects data from bedside devices, such as patient monitors and ventilators, creating an electronic patient flowsheet and integrating it into the Invision electronic health record.

"The next step for information technology in healthcare is to bring enterprise-wide efficiencies to the acute point of care - to intensive care units, operating rooms and other critical care areas," said Tom Miller, president, Siemens Medical Solutions, IT division.

In related news, Siemens also announced new enhancements to the latest release of Invision HIS. The enhancements include physician order entry (POE) starter set, clinical notification inbox and PDAccess clinical assistant vital signs.
