Siemens nets ultrasound install at U.K. pediatric unit

St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, England, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, has ordered the newly launched Acuson X300 premium edition (PE) ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare.

The new unit will be delivered shortly and used for pediatric imaging in the intensive care unit (ICU), according to Siemens.

The company said itsX300 PE ultrasound system can be used in the diagnosis in a range of applications such as cardiology, abdominal and vascular imaging. Using Hanafy Lens Transducer with ‘SynAps’ technology, the system can image up to 30 cm.

The pediatric ICU at St. Mary’s is a 10-bed tertiary unit incorporating an eight-bed intensive care unit and a two-bed high-dependency unit. The facility serves children with life threatening conditions including meningococcal septicaemia, pneumonia, trauma, neurological problems and those who have undergone surgery.
