Siemens unveils physics support services

Siemens Medical Solutions introduced Momentum Physics Support Services this week at the 46th annual meeting of the American Association of Medical Physicists (AAPM) in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Momentum Physics Support Services are the continuing result of an established partnership between Advanced Radiotherapy Consulting (ARC) and Siemens. The first features in the Momentum series include: Momentum On-Site, an on-site commissioning service; Momentum IMRT training to enable customers to perform image modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) treatments shortly after equipment installation; and Momentum Calibration, an absolute dose calibration service.

"Momentum was developed to help our customers go clinical and begin treatments as soon as possible," said Angelo Rago, vice president of Global Service Solutions. "By helping them begin to use their equipment sooner and better utilize their clinical resources, we expect our customers to see improvements in saving both time and money.

Last year, Siemens introduced Velocity Data Collection and Beam Modeling Services. According to Siemens, Velocity provides the customer with a linac and planning system that is IMRT ready, and Momentum supplies the on-site training and site development needed for the start of patient treatment.
