St. Jude Medical to acquire EP MedSystems for $92.1M

St. Jude Medical has agreed to acquire EP MedSystems, a West Berlin, N.J.-based electrophysiology company, for approximately $92.1 million.

The companies expect the acquisition to close during the third quarter of 2008.

The transaction will add two new growth drivers to St. Jude’s programs for atrial fibrillation and other electrophysiology catheterization procedures, including the EP-WorkMate computerized electrophysiology, according to the St. Paul, Minn.-based St. Jude.
