Sun supports NetApp network file system protocol

Network Appliance Inc. this week announced that Sun Java System Messaging Server now supports the NetApp implementation of the Network File System (NFS) protocol to provide increased data management and compliance capabilities in the Sun Java System Messaging Server and NFS server environments.

As a result of the partnership, Sun Java System Messaging Server customers using NetApp storage with Data ONTAP 7G software can double their storage utilization and reduce storage management costs in multiapplication environments. Data ONTAP 7G automatically manages fine-grained data and enables administrators to shrink, or expand, volumes on-the-fly, NetApp said.
