Terumo files patent infringement suit for endoscopic vessel harvesting system
Terumo Cardiovascular Systems has filed a patent infringement complaint in Germany against two affiliates of Maquet Cardiovascular, alleging that two of Maquet’s endoscopic vessel harvesting systems, infringe Terumo’s German patents.
The complaint also has requested an injunction against further sales of the products, Vasoview 6 and Vasoview 7, in Germany. The two Maquet affiliates are Maquet KG and Maquet Vertriebs und Service Deutschland.
The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Terumo said it sells the VirtuoSaph endoscopic vessel harvesting system in the U.S. The VirtuoSaph system is distributed in Japan and Asia by corporate Terumo and in Europe by Terumo's European subsidiary.
The VirtuoSaph system is used during coronary artery bypass grafting.
