Toshibas portable ultrasound cleared by FDA

The Viamo laptop ultrasound system from Toshiba America Medical Systems, a hand-carried system that was introduced at the 2009 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting, has received FDA clearance.

The Viamo provides radiology capabilities in a portable system and can be used for a variety of patient exams, including pediatric, emergency, OB/GYN and vascular imaging, said Tustin, Calif.-based Toshiba.
