Ultrasonix nets CE Mark for portable ultrasound

Ultrasonix Medical, a developer and manufacturer of diagnostic ultrasound imaging systems, has received the CE Mark for its SonixTOUCH ultrasound imaging system.

The Richmond, British Columbia-based company said its SonixTOUCH is a portable diagnostic ultrasound system developed around its OpenSONIX platform. The SonixTOUCH features a touch-screen-driven reconfigurable user interface and it can be configured for most ultrasound applications and use models, according to the company.

The SonixTOUCH received FDA (510k) clearance in November 2008, and shipments began in December last year.
