Varian adds PaxScan products
Varian Medical Systems Inc. will introduce two new PaxScan products at next week's Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting, Nov. 28 - Dec. 2, in Chicago.
The PaxScan 2020 is designed for the cardiac and conventional C-arm market, Varian said. It is designed for applications utilizing 9-inch image intensifier tubes, incorporates a fast command processor and provides extended memory for operating in different acquisition modes, from 1 to 60 frames per second. The active imaging area is close to the panel's edge, for unrestricted access to the patient. Optimal pixel structure ensures low image lag and an improved signal-to-noise ratio, Varian said.
The PaxScan 4030CB meets the needs of the cone-beam cross-sectional x-ray imaging market, Varian said. The panel is a key component of Varian's radiation oncology imaging and treatment technologies, including the Acuity radiotherapy simulation and verification device and the On-Board Imager. It is designed for medical diagnostic x-ray equipment requiring a large 20-inch diagonal imaging area.
The 4030CB is based on Varian's flagship PaxScan 4030A product, which has a 40 x 30 cm imaging area and a 194-micron pixel pitch. The panels offer excellent low-dose performance, achieved through Varian's proprietary readout electronics and a highly sensitive cesium iodide scintillator. They can acquire high-resolution fluoroscopic images at up to 30 frames per second and radiographic images up to 7.5 FPS.
Each PaxScan digital imager incorporates a flat-panel, amorphous-silicon sensor array, a command processor, a power supply, and all interconnecting cables, Varian said.
