XCounter acquires Finnish imaging company

Medical imaging technology provider XCounter has acquired 50.2 percent of the outstanding shares of Espoo, Finland-based digital imaging company Oy AJAT, following the company’s May 2009 acquisition of 49.8 percent of the Finnish company. 

The terms of the acquisition will follow subsequent agreements made with the remaining shareholders in July 2009. XCounter will issue $21.7 million worth of new ordinary shares, representing 19.3 percent of the company’s enlarged share capital, to certain AJAT shareholders, who will retain unexercised options over AJAT shares said Danderyd, Sweden-based XCounter.

By way of the partnership, XCounter said it plans to consolidate its tomosynthesis, photon counting and electronic expertise with AJAT’s detector technologies.
