Amicas, Shields Health Care to offer PACS seminar

Web-based picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) company Amicas Inc. and MRI provider Shields Health Care Group will co-host a seminar on image management in October. The one-day "PACS Attack" workshop targets hospital and health imaging centers.

The forum is scheduled for Oct. 24 at the New England Aquarium in Boston. The day's activities include Amicas President and CEO Hamid Tabatabaie's keynote address on "The Digital Impact: A preview of the future of radiology." Also scheduled is an overview of PACS protocols, a discussion on how radiology information systems fit into a PACS plan, how to select a PACS vendor, and PACS management post-purchase.

Tabatabaie says the PACS conference will "dispel the myth that PACS is not an affordable option, especially for community hospitals, when in fact, it is among the most dynamic systems an organization could have."
