Codonics highlights series of imaging peripherals

Codonics presented its Horizon multi-media imager, Integrity medical image importer and Virtua medical disc publisher at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, Nov. 30 through Dec. 4.

Horizon combines three imagers in one—a dry film imager, color imager and grayscale paper imager. Switching between film, color and paper requires no operator intervention; the compact system can be placed on a desk, counter or in mobile applications. It requires less than two feet of desk space and weighs less than 70 pounds, the company said.

The web-based Integrity reads, reconciles and stores medical studies from a disc into PACS or allows DICOM images to be stored directly to Integrity from any network device. Using rule-based search capabilities to quickly reconcile external studies with the facility’s Modality Worklist and local PACS, Integrity performs multiple searches to match study demographics.

Virtua automatic disc recorder offers a DICOM-compliant network appliance that can concurrently record and label multiple medical studies onto CD and DVD media. Virtua XR records up to 60 CDs or 30 DVDs an hour, and the Virtua model records 30 CDs an hours. Virtua’s compact design features an embedded processor, robotic disc handling and a user-friendly touch screen interface. The built-in printer produces full-color disc labels that include patient demographics and the facility’s address and logo for marketing. Customers can create their own custom labels or use Codonics disc label design service, Codonics said.
