Iowa hospital licenses Carestream enterprise info management software

Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, has placed an order with Carestream Health for additional Enterprise Information Management (EIM) licenses and two IBM XIV storage systems.

The hospital is expanding its storage area network to support digital mammography, cardiac catheterization studies and vascular ultrasound images, in addition to growing demand for all of its imaging services.

Carestream said its EIM software provides intelligent lifecycle management of DICOM and non-DICOM data and moves medical information as dictated by customer-defined storage rules.

Mercy also used EIM software to migrate data from its previous generation PACS to its central storage archive, according to the company. The software facilitates disaster recovery by storing data at both the main center and a secondary data center.
