ASTRO planning its 2004 IMRT Practicum
The American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) 2004 IMRT Practicum is scheduled for Feb. 6 to Feb. 8 at the Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego.
The potential to offer IMRT (intensity modulated radiation therapy) technology to cancer patients depends on the systems and delivery of treatment. According to the organization, IMRT utilizes expensive hardware, complex multimodality imaging and extensive planning, creating a risk that techniques can be misunderstood and misapplied. Since IMRT planning and delivery systems are first generation, change is inevitable.
The two-day meeting will include teaching and hands-on sessions for the seasoned oncologist and new comers to the field.
Registration to attend is open now. Visit the organization's Web site for additional information: www.astro.org.
