Eclipsys, Van Slyck & Associates form strategic alliance

Eclipsys Corp. has formed a strategic relationship with Van Slyck & Associates Inc. (VSA), combining Eclipsys' advanced clinical software with Van Slyck's patient classification/acuity methodology.

The companies say the combination will enable healthcare organizations to achieve improved patient care and resource management.

"This combination can provide nurses and other caregivers with real-time capabilities to adjust staffing and other resources on the fly," said Eclipsys Chief Nursing Officer James A. Cato, RN, CRNA, MHS, MSN.

Eclipsys' advanced clinical solution will integrate patient classification/acuity transparently behind the clinician's automated documentation. As the clinician documents the care he or she provides, the system automatically calculates the acuity, stores it within the patient's electronic medical record and generates a report on a shift-by-shift basis.
