Florida imaging center, nonprofit partner to provide free mammograms
Sand Lake Imaging in Orlando, Florida and Shepherd’s Hope, a nonprofit in the area have partnered to provide free mammograms for uninsured women—their sixth year doing so, according to ClickOrlando.com.
The “Get a mammogram, Give a mammogram” program allows women undergoing breast screening to pay it forward and give a mammogram to a woman who otherwise might not receive one. Running through October, the program has helped more than 2,200 uninsured women receive screenings, according to the report.
Marni Stahlman, president and CEO of Shepherd’s Home, partners with other hospitals in the area to meet the needs of underserved patients, and says she is grateful to do so.
"Grateful for the women who are coming and understand that they want to give one back to another woman in the community. That's where the gift is," Stahlman said to ClickOrlando.
