GBA launches scalable HIS

GBA Health Network Systems, of Warwick, R.I., used HIMSS 2004 to highlight its new practice management system.

Described as a next-generation healthcare information system (HIS), MEDfx-practice management software is a XML based HIS written fully in Java, utilizing J2EE architecture. The system is platform independent and incorporates an open-standards based architecture.

GBA says the system is built to perform in a high patient volume environment, scalable from a single physician, up to a multi-location practice, community health center or multi-practice enterprise. GBA also acknowledges that the system was developed for "HIPAA readiness."

MEDfx-practice management software is currently shipping and installed in a variety of medical specialties.
