InfraReDx raises $21M for IVUS launch

InfraReDx has completed $21 million in the current round of equity financing with help from existing investors including Sanderling Ventures.

The Burlington, Mass.-based company said that the financing will be used to initiate the commercialization of the LipiScan IVUS, an intravascular ultrasound imaging system that combines grayscale IVUS with near infrared spectroscopy lipid core plaque detection technology.

The LipiScan IVUS technology deciphers plaque location, degree of stenosis and degrees of stent expansion and performs NIR spectroscopic analysis of the vessels and produces a chemical map of the lipid-core plaque, or a Chemogram.
