Medrad adds two new infusion modes for MR infusion System

Medrad Inc. has unveiled two new infusion enhancements on its Continuum MR compatible infusion system for MRI systems.

The new software enhancement allows clinicians to program weight-based dose parameters into the Continuum infusion pump, which automatically calculates and displays the required flow rates. The software also enables the administration of an automatic bolus on medication and the ability to program flow rate limits in any infusion mode as an extra safety precaution.

Developed in 2002, Medrad's MR Infusion System helps minimize pain levels for MRI patients on infusion therapy. Historically, patients would either be removed from the medication and experience discomfort, or remain connected to a non-MR compatible infusion pump outside the scanner room by up to 30 feet of connection tubing.
