Neurostar debuts 3D imaging fuctionality
Dec. 7 – Neurostar Solutions debuted 3D imaging processing functionality at the 93rd scientific assembly and annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago last week.

The functionality is designed to provide “3D for the masses” and developed in collaboration with KJAYA Medical, 3D functionality is fully integrated into Neurostar’s Virtual Radiology Network (VRN) application as a location-free, pay-as-you-go ASP offering.

Neurostar can offer 3D as a service rather than a system or product, said Kobi Margolin, vice president of marketing and business development. The options allows radiologists to process multi-slice images anywhere and at any time in a full range of protocols, including MPR, MIP, volume rendering and thin-slab visualization.

The 3D service stores raw imaging data from an acquisition site to Neurostar’s off-site servers.  From there, using standard computer workstations and internet connections, users can reconstruct the data using Neurostar’s web-based tool while taking advantage of the processing power of Neurostar’s offsite servers and backend software.

Finally, processed 3D data is stored on the servers for access by any authorized VRN user. Fees for the new Neurostar 3D service will be on a per-use or per-study basis, eliminating upfront investment. Neurostar showed the 3D application as a work in progress pending FDA clearance.

Also new from Neurostar Solutions are virtual practice management, service-oriented architecture for VRN gateway and PACS insurance in which Neurostar provides disaster recovery, business continuity and access for outside physicians.
