Philips' catheterization lab will incorporate sensor tracking technology

Philips Medical Systems will equip its Integris Allura flat-panel detector catheterization lab with MediGuide Ltd.'s medical positioning system (MPS) navigation core.

 MediGuide, of Arlington, Va., specializes in intra-body navigation devices for a wide range of medical applications.

With its guided intravascular ultrasound (GIVUS) developed by MediGuide and Boston Scientific Corp., physicians can view position and surrounding arterial walls in 3D. The system will also enable the use of quantitative 3D imaging modalities for the inspection of coronary vessels.
