ASNC now taking abstracts for 2014 scientific session

The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) announced Feb. 27 that abstract submissions are now being taken for the upcoming ASNC 2014 meeting scheduled for Sept. 18-21 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed for potential oral or poster presentation during ASNC2014. The society also is taking applications for scientists in residency, fellowship or under the age of 35 for the ASNC2014 Young Investigator Award (YIA).

YIA finalists will be offered a presentation spot during the meeting and a stipend of $500. The winner will receive an additional $500 grant for his or her research.

The deadline for abstract submission is April 11. Anyone whose abstract is accepted will receive free registration for the 19th Annual Scientific Session. Regular registration for the meeting begins on March 17.

Positron, a New York-based nuclear imaging company, will now provide Upbeat Cardiology Solutions with advanced PET/CT systems and services.

The nuclear imaging isotope shortage of molybdenum-99 may be over now that the sidelined reactor is restarting. ASNC's president says PET and new SPECT technologies helped cardiac imaging labs better weather the storm.

CMS has more than doubled the CCTA payment rate from $175 to $357.13. The move, expected to have a significant impact on the utilization of cardiac CT, received immediate praise from imaging specialists.
