Digirad seeks to expand beyond cardiology markplace
Diagnostic imaging manufacturer Digirad has launched an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) initiative aimed at the expansion of the distribution of its solid-state technology.
The hope of the initiative is to convert the gamma camera industry from using vacuum tube technology to Digirad's solid-state technology, stated the Poway, Calif.-headquartered company. The technology can be used for both gamma and x-ray detection in hybrid systems such as SPECT/CT and MRI/SPECT.
Digirad has signed its first technology development agreement with a medical imaging company, but will not disclose the name until a product launch is more imminent, stated the company. Additionally, the company is currently seeking partners with broad distribution capabilities and significant share in specialized healthcare market segments.
