DoE grants Dynasil $6.2M in SBIR awards

The U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) has granted Dynasil seven of its phase-II small business innovation research (SBIR) projects awards, totaling $6.2 million.

The awards, ranging from $750,000 to $1 million each, are being made to Dynasil’s wholly owned subsidiary, Radiation Monitoring Devices, for the development of nuclear sensors and instruments, stated the West Berlin, N.J.-based company.

Specifically, Dynasil said that three awards from the DoE’s Office of Biological and Environmental Research will focus on the development of high-resolution imaging detectors for the next generation of nuclear medicine research and medical diagnostic equipment. The remaining four awards, provided by the DoE’s Office of Basic Energy Sciences, will fund the development of the next generation of sensors for nanoscale microscopy and new detectors based on nanoparticles for high performance x-ray detectors.
