GE debuts Alcyone Technology for nuclear cardiology market

GE Healthcare has launched its Alcyone Technology, a nuclear cardiology SPECT platform combining cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) detectors, focused pinhole collimation, 3D reconstruction and stationary data acquisition.

The new platform will be available on both the Discovery NM 530c and the Discovery NM/CT 570c, according to the company. Alcyone's sensitivity and lack of equipment motion improves both image quality and energy resolution, allowing for new clinical applications, including 3D dynamic acquisitions and simultaneous dual-isotope imaging.

GE said that Discovery NM/CT 570c can perform a complete cardiac scan in less than five minutes, including myocardial perfusion imaging, CT angiography and calcium scoring.
