MITA names new PET policy director
The Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA) has brought in Terri Wilson as the organization’s director of PET industry policy.
MITA, based in Arlington, Va., represents the medical imaging and radiotherapy equipment industry and is a division of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). As director, Terri Wilson will not only lead policy in MITA’s PET group, but also the organization’s molecular imaging section.
“I am honored to join an organization that is so committed to the advancement of PET and molecular imaging,” said Wilson today in an official statement. “I look forward to working with my colleagues at MITA to advocate for public policies that help promote physician and patient access to these technologies.”
Wilson’s experience in the nuclear medicine and PET industry includes her service as director of coverage and payment policy for Cardinal Health.
“PET is an immensely valuable technology, used to evaluate a wide variety of conditions from neurological diseases to cancer to heart disease, and to assess the effectiveness of treatments,” MITA executive director Gail Rodriguez said. “Terri’s intricate understanding of the many applications of this imaging modality will ensure that its value is communicated effectively to key policymakers and regulators.”
Previously Wilson opened and operating her own free-standing PET facility after being a technologist at a community hospital facility in Columbia, Mo. Afterwards she worked on the sales side with Siemens’ PET division and PETNET Solutions.
She began working with MITA as the organization’s PET coverage committee chair for better national coverage determination.
