ONC launches cardiovascular app challenge

Developers are being asked to build a mobile application (app) that can engage those at risk, direct them to community health centers and motivate them to take action.
Apps should include an eight question health risk assessment survey outlined by the ONC. To help them complete the task, competitors are being granted access to an application programming interface for conducting risk assessments, and a database of lipid and blood pressure screening locations.
Submissions to the challenge, which will grant $5,000 to up to five finalists, are due by Oct. 31. Complete guidelines are available here.
