Carestream unveils compact X-ray for facilities on a budget

Carestream Health has unveiled its Horizon X-ray system, which the company says is a cost-effective imaging solution catered to small-to-midsize imaging centers, orthopedic facilities, urgent care centers, and hospitals.

According to a statement, the system boasts a compact design on a budget. Carestream said Horizon is its most affordable X-ray offering, fitting into most small rooms without requiring additional ceiling support. Additionally, it is available in a floor-mount configuration for chest X-rays or chiropractic imaging, catering to diverse clinical needs.

“The Horizon system is an ideal solution for smaller healthcare facilities where ease of use, equipment reliability, low maintenance costs, and a low level of investment are essential,” Marco Riolfo, global marketing manager at Carestream said in the statement, adding that the system presents an “opportunity for cost-conscious facilities to get a reliable X-ray room” when they may otherwise not have the budget or space for one.

Despite being an analog X-ray machine, Carestream said Horizon is “digital-ready,” offering a solution for organizations looking to transition. For smaller healthcare facilities, the cost of upgrading to digital is often a major financial challenge.

The full device will be on display at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual conference in Chicago on Nov. 26-30.
