Confirma, iCAD to market combined mammo and breast MRI CAD technologies

Computer-aided detection (CAD) firms Confirma Inc. and iCAD Inc. have signed an agreement to market each other's respective CAD technologies.

Confirma specializes in CAD for breast MRI, while iCAD offers CAD for x-ray mammography. The goal, the companies say, is to provide a better, more streamlined breast MRI and mammography CAD product through an enhanced version of iCAD's Second Look CAD system.

Confirma will provide CADstream to iCAD for integration with the Second Look 500 CAD system for mammography. The new products will be known as the Second Look 500M and will be available in July. Results of the CADstream analysis are available on the Second Look review station, allowing radiologists concurrent access to mammography and MR CAD results while reviewing original patient films.
